Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) – Level 1 & Level 2
📍 Annapolis Junction, MD · TS/SCI with Poly Required
We are hiring Information Systems Security Engineers (ISSEs) at both Level 1 and Level 2 to support mission-critical cybersecurity initiatives in a high-security environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of RMF, NIST 800-53, system authorization, and hands-on experience advising developers and administrators on cybersecurity best practices.
🔹 Core Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and support IT security programs and policies
- Provide guidance to system developers, administrators, and owners on security best practices and compliance
- Perform system security assessments, vulnerability reviews, and RMF-based evaluations
- Maintain system security documentation (e.g., SSPs) and support A&A activities to maintain ATOs
- Communicate system status using COTS/GOTS tools and respond to security-related tickets
- Analyze security impacts of system changes and assist in mitigating risks
- Work closely with AO/DAO, SCA, and ISSM during Assessment and Authorization (A&A) efforts
🔹 Required Qualifications – Level 1
- 7+ years of ISSE experience with programs of similar scope and complexity
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, or related field (or 4 additional years of experience)
- DoD 8570 IASAE Level I compliance (CASP+ CE, CISSP or Associate, or CSSLP)
- TS/SCI with Polygraph
🔹 Required Qualifications – Level 2
- 14+ years of ISSE experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or 4 additional years of experience)
- DoD 8570 IASAE Level II compliance (CISSP required)
- Strong background in RMF, system security engineering, and IC cybersecurity frameworks
- TS/SCI with Polygraph
🔹 Desired Skills
- Windows or Linux System Administration
- Network Administration experience
- Familiarity with AWS environments
- Experience with:
- Splunk (audit reduction/analysis)
- Nessus (vulnerability scanning)
- Xacta or LatteArt (RMF/A&A tools)
Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $120,000 – $195,000 annually.
