Area Security Officer (ASO)

As an Area Security Officer (ASO), you will play a critical role in supporting the security needs of our Springfield, VA location. You will assist managers and supervisors in establishing and conducting security awareness programs tailored to the unique needs of the area supported. You will instruct personnel on their individual security responsibilities and reportable requirements as outlined in the Security Executive Agent Directive 3 (SEAD 3) and site policy.

The ASO serves as the go-to person for all security-related matters, including but not limited to:

  • Assist in Reporting Security Incidents: Handle and report security incidents efficiently and effectively.

  • Assist with AIS Equipment Entry/Exit Requests: Oversee the entry and exit requests for Automated Information Systems (AIS) equipment.

  • Personnel Security (PERSEC) Adjudications: Coordinate suspensions/revocations of personnel; perform required debriefings and update all security repositories.

  • Liaison for Information Security Division (SISG): Act as the primary point of contact for the Information Security Division.

  • Support the OPSEC Officer: Aid in promoting and maintaining operations security.

  • Program Protection Plan Concepts and Policies: Assist with the development and implementation of program protection plans.

  • Controlled Access Programs (CAPs) and Special Access Programs (SAPs): Provide support and ensure compliance with security protocols.

  • Physical Security Liaison: Oversee the creation and accreditation/de-accreditation of SCIFs/secure rooms.

  • FOIA Requests: Ensure timely completion of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.

  • Visitor Access Request (VAR) Approval Processes: Manage and approve visitor access requests.

  • eCourier Card Approvals: Oversee and approve eCourier card requests.

  • Security Access Verifications: Conduct security access verifications and research personnel information.

  • Clear/Sanitize Safes and Cabinets: Ensure safes and cabinets are cleared/sanitized of classified material prior to turn-in/decommission.

  • Change Safe Combination Locks: Manage and change safe combination locks as needed.

Mission Support:

  • Emergency Management: Provide support for emergency management initiatives.

  • New Employee Orientation Seminar: Support new employee orientation and ensure all security protocols are communicated effectively.

  • Customer Service: Provide research and follow-up assistance for all customer service calls.

Requirements:

  • TS/SCI (able to pass CI poly)

  • 7 - 14 years of relevant experience in a similar scope of work

  • Bachelors Degree in a relevant field of study
